Here are some examples of earned media coverage that I was directly involved in pitching and landing. One thing that I do is I don’t give up. I build relationships with reporters by interacting with them on Twitter, by understanding their audience, and getting them all the documents they need quickly. If they don’t respond the first time, I follow up, and try to send them a more trending topic or a topic that would fit their audience better. I don’t pitch and ask for “free sales pitches.” I position my clients as experts and relate their content and company to trends in the market place. I like to pitch vertical publications that are specifically designed for my client’s audiences. I do have Cision, a media database of over 500,000 reporters/influencers/editorial calendars.
